Wells Built Homes is a proven community home builder. The Wells family has been involved in the home building business in Billings for the past forty years. Wells Built Homes been awarded the Billings Gazette Readers’ Choice award multiple times for the best builder/contractor in the city of Billings and surrounding area. We thank our loyal customers who have helped us build a reputation of quality.

We have a time earned commitment to our clients, as well as the people we work with.

The foundation of W.B.H. rests on our commitment to quality. By crafting homes of the highest quality, we build customer loyalty and satisfaction. More than twenty years ago, Dan Wells took over his father Leland’s operation as President. In that first year, we built fifteen homes. Ten years later, Wells Built Homes we were building more homes for repeat customers a year than we built total in 1992. Our quality, professionalism, and commitment to our clients has given us the honor calling our customers, our friends.

With over 400 homes under our belt in the last 12 years, our client portfolio is diverse. To us the most notable group would include the many professionals, vendors, and craftsman that work in our industry. They work with us and the other building contractors in our area on a day to day basis. We are proud that many of them have come to us to build their dreams.

The following are a sampling of customers we have worked with over the years: Accountants, several members of the banking community, retail vendors, printing supply companies, plumbing vendors, Insulation suppliers, land developers, interior designers, lumber yard owner, heating and cooling contractor, cabinet vendors, painting contractor, landscaper, real estate agents, and engineers.

These homeowners have industry experience and knowledge to choose the best in our area. We are glad to consistently be their choice.

Meet the Team

Dan Wells

Dan carries the family name and reputation. He has been asked many times by home buyers how long he has been building homes. His standard answer is “home building is like farming, I was helping my Dad before I started grade school.” Dan started young, and has a lot of experience. In addition to hands on experience, Dan graduated from Utah State University with a degree in finance. Dan enjoys the outdoors, especially hunting with his sons. Dan and Julane have six children whom they hope will carry on the family tradition of home building.

Julane Wells

Julane graduated with a degree in accounting from Utah State University. Julane earned her C.P.A. and worked for several years in public accounting before taking over the accounting for Wells Built Homes. A lot of the success at WBH is due to Julane’s wisdom and support as a business partner and wife to Dan. She enjoys spending time with her children, and new grand-daughter.

Kirk Worthington

Kirk graduated with a degree in communications from Montana State University-Billings. He has made a career of satisfying clients, and bringing Wells Built Homes’ jobs to a close efficiently and on time. His eye for detail, and knowledge of the construction process have helped make Wells Built Homes and quality synonymous.  Kirk is an avid football fan and a loyal supporter of the BYU football program. Kirk and his wife Marlayne have eight wonderful children.

Rick Stordahl

Rick started his construction career at the Billings Career Center. As a junior, the plans he drew in class were chosen by the teacher as the “best” and were used for the annual career center house. From there he spent years in upper management for a local lumber supply company, still always drawing home for people on the side. In 1995, Rick joined WBH fulltime to draw and supervise construction. Today, Rick still draws the best home’s in Billings and his warm personality makes the design process exciting and enjoyable. Rick and his wife Mary have three sons who are very accomplished in academics and sports.

Tabitha Anderson

Tabitha graduated in political science at the University of Washington. After spending a few years working for the governor of Washington, she moved with her husband, Joe, back to Billings and began to work with Julane in book keeping. Together they are a sharp team, and keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. Tabitha is an aspiring photographer, and the mother of three beautiful children.

Dereme Budge

Dereme grew up in Arizona and graduated from ASU with a degree in construction management and received the nationally recognized associate constructor certification. He began his career working in the field, gaining first-hand experience with many of the scopes of work he studied in school. His knowledge and skills progressed and he took a job as project manager and estimator for a commercial construction company. In 2011, Dereme and his wife decided to move to her home state of Montana to raise their family of four boys.  Dereme joined the WBH staff as the general manager/estimator in our company. His attention to detail and technical training make him a vital member of our team.

Steve Wells

Steve, like his dad, grew up in the construction industry. He has been meeting sub-contractors and been on jobsites since diapers. Now grown up, Steve splits his time meeting with customers in the office and supervising construction the field. He considers it a lifelong dream fulfilled to be able to build houses with his dad. Steve graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in financial economics. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Candace, and together they have a daughter.
